Whilst introducing me, on Sunday, my Pastor commented how good my knowledge of the bible was, and how it compared with his own. I disagree with this presumption that knowledge is wisdom.
Albert Einstein said: Any fool can know. The point is to understand. Just because you know something, doesnt mean you really understand it.
Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Just because we can do something, doesnt make it okay to do it. All our actions should be coloured by our fear of the LORD of knowing Him and being known by Him. Its not just a bunch of dos and donts but belonging to God means becoming like Him in character.
We need to make sure we have the right knowledge and the right convictions, and thats its not a pride thing. Some get too smart for their own good. We need Biblical reasons for what we do, and if the Bible doesnt speak directly to something theres a good chance that some Bible principles will impact it.
Rev 1:8 I am A to Z! (1st and last letter in Greek alphabet)
Rev 1:11 I am A to Z!
Jesus makes here a remarkable statement: I am the alphabet of God.
What is an alphabet? Its a way of storing accumulated wisdom. Jesus is the accumulated wisdom of God. He is the full revelation of who our God is!
From an alphabet you make words
in John 1 Jesus is called the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word. He was there at creation, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Hes the beginning of all things, Hes the ending of all things, alpha and omega, A to Z, the accumulated wisdom of God.
Be careful that the word of others does not instill in you a pride which is undeserving.
